Many people have reservations about entering the care sector. We have been speaking to people to find out what holds people back from pursuing this career. Our conclusion is: If you’ve thought about it and you think you have the qualities required to carry out the role... we want to meet you!!
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do I need experience?
A: No you do not. Sometimes, the tasks we carry out in every day life give us all the experience we need. The role of supporting somebody in their personal life can include prompts or assistance to wash and dress, cooking, preparing meals, shopping, making lists, cleaning etc. It can be about assisting somebody to access the local community. Providing somebody with the encouragement and support they need to complete daily tasks confidently and independently can make a huge
difference. If you can assist with any of these tasks whilst ensuring dignity and respect are upheld - this could be the job for you!
Q: Do I receive training?
A: Full training and support is provided. All staff are given the opportunity to be enrolled on to a Health & Social Care Qualification in addition to the mandatory training which is provided at the beginning. But like anything, you learn more when you’re actually involved in it. Every day is different and every day, we learn something new.
Q: Am i right for this kind of work?
A: Yes! Everybody has individual qualities and experience that they can bring to the role. It takes all kinds of people to connect with our clients. Some of our clients prefer a quiet, reserved person while others would benefit from somebody who is more direct and outgoing. If you are adaptable and willing to learn, you can
excel in this role. Our Support Workers have excellent relationships with our clients and their families which makes for a very positive and effective service and a fulfilling role for the support workers.
